What is FSSC 22000?

FSSC 22000 is a food safety system certification recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). It is based on ISO 22000 for food safety management systems and includes additional requirements from the FSSC Foundation. The scheme covers the food supply chain, from primary production through processing and packaging.

Version 6 replaces Version 5.1. Certified organisations need to understand what changed in the additional requirements, including food safety and quality culture, quality control, equipment management, food loss and waste, and communication requirements, and then update their system before the transition audit.

The full comparison of the two versions is in the downloadable article. If you want help mapping the changes onto your current system, FSQ Excellence can walk through the gap with your team.
